I was just thanking for the links to Wexler on the minting process! As I've said before, I'm really bad to learn things out of order and just jump in the middle, heh, heh. I know the basics of the minting process but should study it somewhat. As for my hunting process, I'm of little or no use. I literally take them as they come and like it that way. No separating (but do this as I search them), no like dates, mints, copper vs plated, wheat vs memorial or shield. I just roll through them because I like varieties errors and just investigating different damage and anomalies. I know folks have favorites but I really don't. It does get a little old when not finding something of interest over a long period though. My speeds change from mood to mood too depending on length of time between finds.

Sorry but I'm not much help here! The only thing I would suggest to new searchers though, is to pay attention to posts and see all the different things to look for.

Thank you Jon! This thread is for everybody, it doesn't matter how long you have been searching! We all have things we do different ways and someone else's idea might just be what another person hasn't tried yet! It would be cool if we could all get together with our Lincolns and loupes and just talk about stuff like this... but since we can't... this is the next best thing

Problem is - I don't have a say in it, the brain just takes whatever is handy and eliminates that to make way for the new information. This morning, I got in my vehicle and forgot how to start is. Spent half the day looking through the manual before I was able to get out. Not sure what got pushed out, hopefully I still remember how to pee.

Ed for a couple of years I sorted everything by year and mint mark and it helps so much to train your eyes and mind what to look for. I don't sort anymore... but if I had a bag of wheat cents I would definitely sort them by year so I could study them better!

Thank you for the link to the thread! Nice round table discussion amongst pros!
I believe it was our old friend Frank that used the stick???

I believe you are right Jim! Haven't seen Frank on the forum in awhile, maybe he will show up and give us an update pretty soon! I wonder if he's been really busy with his digital art? It would be nice to hear from him!
