A Question About the 1974 Cent

I've still been sorting through my cans of cents. For now, I've been separating Large/Small Dates and other transitional years. In some of my online research I've found that there are Large/Small Dates for the 1974. I found that information at https://www.lincolncentresource.com/...ates/1974.html , www.ngccoin.com/news/article/694/ , as well as several other sites. However, I purchased a couple of books last week including CPG and A Guide Book of Lincoln Cents by Q. David Bowers and I'm wondering why they don't list Large/Small Dates for 1974.

It might be that there is no real price premium on them and on top of that, the typical collector can't tell which is which.

And last but probably most important, there is little hype because none of the folders have spots for them like they do for 60LD/SD, 70LD/SD and even the 7 types of 82 cents. I've never seen a folder with the different 74 cents.

Yeah, from the pictures I've seen, it would be a little difficult to differentiate between the 2. I'll just lump them all together for now. Dont want to waste too much time on something that isnt a big deal. Thanks for your reply!

Sometimes I can't tell by looking at the 4, to me it's easier to spot the thickness on the 9. The Type 1 Large Date is not considered to be a doubled die, here is the link to Coppercoins photos "For Informational Purposes Only" https://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...&die_state=mds

I have some nice 1974 Type 1's in my Ed System... I think they are cool looking and when I was new at this I thought I had found a great doubled die the first time I saw one!
