    1942 breaks and cuds?

Hello all, found this the other day, just got my new digital microscope, seems to be taking some good photos.
Thought maybe you could tell me what you see going on and any thoughts about it?
the area to right of ONE is indented? and breaks seem to run all the way to the rim. Is that considered a small cud at the bottom of the obverse? has anyone seen this particular 1942 before?

as always thanks for any thoughts and help

Hello! The reverse area you are talking about is a lamination error. Nice pics with your new scope! Check out our Glossary for the definition of die break and cud, there's a lot of great info in the Glossary!

Lamination Error: This is when metal cracks and flakes off of the surface of a coin, due to impurities in the alloy mixture. These occur almost exclusively on solid alloy coins, and are therefore found on pre-1982 Lincoln cents. The flaking piece may still be attached (retained) or can be missing.

sweet, thanks everyone, I am smarter now then I was earlier today. I thought that maybe the indent part might set it apart but now I see how it is missing not from pressure of something striking it, but rather flaking off and rubbed over the years to what it is now.

Thanks again everyone, back to the hunt

I have found a couple lamination errors from the 40's and 50's. They're pretty cool. Nice pics!!

Nice lams... Looks like a lamination on the jacket also??? The areas at the rim look like something clipped the inside of the rim, displaced a little metal and flattened the metal maybe a coin roller???
