bob, I put a thin coat of verdi-care on it, but I don't think it has been previously cleaned. It could have, I don't know 100%. Also, it has a lot more luster than the pictures taken; the pictures here look flat and matte. Couldn't get a better lighting position to show it as I see it.
As far as the mint mark, there are some chips and a gouge inside, that I can see.
I certainly can agree that viewing a photo here versus in hand can make a big difference. I can't see any 'luster' per se, and I see things like corrosion in the numbers of the date. Previously cleaned coins can be difficult to identify in some cases, so I will leave it as your call since you do have it in hand.
looks alot like coppercoins 1948s-1mm-006-at least the mark in the lower loop of the s--
OK...I see what you are getting at. However, almost all of the S mint marks for the date have this anomaly on the bottom loop. The strength of that 'bulge' is proportional to the depth of the punching. It is not a repunching though, just the punch that was used.

That is a purdee coin... I'm in with the previous cleaning... Not sure how they did it but from some of the testing (That's my story ) I did it looks spot on... Notice how the dirt and debri is in tight to the devices and inside of them... Who ever cleaned it only did a have way cleaning... Maybe they wear testing cleaning methods
Jim (A.K.A. Elmer Fudd) Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!

Yeppers, Jim--- like why didn't they just finish the job, and make it really pretty, with no dirt inside the letters and all?! But (laughing), it's ok with me. It still is preeutty! So, reckon would give some credit to whomever.
Sorry, haven't been around. Was in Virginia for a week of training, I.T. stuff. I may be gone again starting in June. Will see.

There's more to life than searching coins... Got to work so you can make money to get more rolls

Hahaha Jim, for sure. It's like an obsession. For me---to find that true doubled die that I can see without a microscope. Yep, gotta keep working. Main thing though, to find work, in the first place. Tough times.
