I have always been curious why PCGS does not recognize the 1974 date size variation. They grade and price the variations from 1960, 1970 and 1982, but no mention of the 1974.

Because none are rare, all of them have huge mintage.
I do agree in this way, some of the 82 types are not rare but still in the end it does not matter. Compare it to the 70-S small dates that are rare, compare it to the 60-P SD that are much scarcer than the LD. So in the end, none of the 74 types are worth a premium so they decided not to mess with it.
