The best book for varieties is The Cherry Pickers Guide Fourth Edition - Volume ONE. (not the red one)
Looking Through Lincoln Cents second edition by Charles D. Daughtrey is good too.
There are a lot of others.

www.pcgs.com has a nice price guide and info.
www.coinworld.com is also very good if you get a membership.
