These photos are OK to determine possible color and luster, but it takes a bit more than pictures like this to properly grade any coin. They need to be looked at closely, usually with minor magnification to identify bag marks, and/or any other damage. Color and luster are also verified with in hand examination. PCGS does offer a photo grade. This statement comes from their site.
With PCGS Photograde™, you can obtain the approximate grade of your coin by comparing it to the photo that most closely matches its appearance. After you've done that, you can go to the PCGS Price Guide to get a ballpark idea of how much the coin is worth.Bob Piazza
