LOL, Can we ban the uploading of .jpeg files?

Not sure of the differences in the file types, but .jpeg files go to my download folder then I have to go to my download folder and click again to open the pic while .jpg files open up into a pic immediately. Then eventually I have to clean out my download folder.

Oh, the issues we have to deal with in this modern technology-driven society.

Kind of like waiting five minutes to defrost something in the microwave (when we could just defrost overnight in the refrigerator and not wait).

Can't you just save your files as .jpg ?

T is referring to having to go through this process when viewing photos from others threads, not his own pics.

As Jon pointed out, I was just making a [somewhat] humorous commentary on present-day life "hardships".
The .jpeg issue is minor but odd that some files are saved one way or the other. Sometimes mixed, I believe, in the same post.

I have actually wondered about the difference between the two (jpeg-jpg) in the past but never dug into it. In this link and others I found, supposedly nothing. Maybe just the way this site recognizes them?

Aha....now I get it ! On the other hand, I've never noticed it......either I'm used to it or it has to do with my PC settings

Your browser configuration is messed-up. On webpages jpg files should open directly in your browser.

.jpeg and .jpg are the same. If they behave differently, that's probably something wrong on your setup.

T, what browser do you use, because I have to do the same thing with jpegs but not jpgs. I use Firefox. I don't know that I've ever looked at or even know how to change any settings. Maybe just the browser type?

I pulled up the settings on my browser and did not see anything I could change, that was related to opening attachments. I'm am not computer savvy at all though, actually the exact opposite.

Here Here! I have the same issues and agree about not knowing how to change settings.

I have noticed in the past that closeups seemed to be displayed as one and full coin images were the other ..... sometimes.

I do remember my PC usually saving them as jpg. There was a period of time I posted images that the PC switched back and forth for some reason. I was getting frustrated with my own PC and started noticing and catching the issue before posting my thread/reply. At the time I became more diligent about making sure which format my images were saved as.

(Then someone came along and invented the png format!! Really. I mean come on. Give us digital neanderthals a break and stop improving technology just when we start to catch up. LOL)

I only use Firefox so that must not be it

The folks naming the files as jpeg don't know that this structure is in correct. All photo files should be jpg. They have not used servers so they just name it how it sounds would be my bet. Just my two cents... Actually my PC tries to save as png. automatically. I don't think the P.C's recogize what a file is... jpg, word, excel, the PC doesn't care so it names everything the same way. It's up to US!!! to make sure the file structure is correct.

I went back and read Jon's post. Looks like the differences are between Mac and Windows. Eric go Read... You can tell I save averything as jpg...
