    TPGS grading can be puzzling

I really don't see any marks [only a couple of minute stains] on this coin and am generally puzzled on why it would only grade at 64: Though it does have some nice MD.

I was wondering myself until I noticed it was a proof and not a business strike.

I'm terrible on proofs and I can only guess but I think it is because they use different criteria to grade proofs, especially since almost all proofs were to be flawless.
Even thought there are no obvious nicks, ticks, or scratches, the fields look like they have become a little "bumpy" from age and oxidation.
(I've taken some PCGS grading classes the last couple of years out of curiosity but have committed myself to accurately forget anything they taught me! LOL)

Proof, didn't even notice that. My eyes went straight to the MD.

That would also explain the crazy price.

The price is what actually made me look closely at the label.

I would guess it doesn't look as good in hand.

I'm definitely not a grader, but I always keep in mind something I learned ages ago and apply it when I look at coins to buy. That is to start at the center of the coin, specifically at the top of Lincoln's ear for detail. That apparently is the most fragile part and wears the quickest. That is the first thing I look at on a coin, the fullness of Lincoln's ear or the lack of. This coin may or may not have been graded on that basis but there is a lack of detail on the top of the ear. That's my theory.

This matte proof is under graded and probably under priced. I do not need it or I would be all over this like stink on a skunk. If you sent it in to a better TPG it would probably rise a point or two. I do not think there should not be any deduction for the striking damage on RTY and 19.

Looks great - But I am not willing to Cross over a NGC proof to PCGS.

Hey, this guy's pretty funny! Oh, wait.... It's pretty bad when you don't remember typing something from 2 weeks ago.
