I have acquired a couple of cents described as '1981 type 2 clear S' that I am not satisfied with. The S looks very much like my 1979 type 2 coins. I can say that one of the 1981 clear S coins does have a flattened appearing MM, not rounded in the body between the serifs. But it still looks like my 1979 type 2 coins inside the circles of the S. Am I being too critical? Should I shop for something slabbed? Or just be patient?
These are photos of the same coin with the 'flattened S'. This doesn't appear to be a 'clear S' to me. Comments welcomed.
