    Regarding late packages thru USPS

Anyone familiar with what is going on with this package? And what to expect?

Below is the message that is showing on ebay [and no word since 3/16]:

Can't say, but I will say recent Ebay trackings have told me "delivered, " and then it took another day or two before it actually was. No idea what's going on other then the entire country has gone to hell in two years.

Do you have the tracking number??? If so contact the post office... That normally indicates the package was damage in some fashion!!!

This is interesting. I did not know that USPS had this facility. Here is the info from their site concerning that message:

What is the USPS Mail Recovery Center?

The Mail Recovery Center is the U.S. Postal Service’s official “lost and found” department for undeliverable and non-returnable mail.
Undeliverable mail determined to be of value, meaning the content is worth more than $25.00 ($20.00 for mailpieces containing cash), will be held for 60 days if the mailpiece is barcoded, or 30 days for non-barcoded mailpieces.

Mailpieces are scanned and those that are determined to contain items of value are opened in an attempt to identify an address where the piece can be forwarded or returned.
The Mail Recovery Center (MRC) is the U.S. Postal Service’s official “lost and found” department for undeliverable and non-returnable mail. Undeliverable mailpieces are letters, flats or parcels that cannot be delivered as addressed nor returned to the sender.
How Does the USPS® Dispose of Items of Value if the Owner Cannot Be Located?
Occasionally, the MRC will auction off the items held. More information on upcoming auctions, including locations and directions, can be found at United States Postal Service® auctions. Auctions usually start at 10:00 AM with the viewing of the available merchandise beginning at 8:30 AM. Merchandise is sold in lots, not by individual item, and catalogs may be purchased for a nominal fee on the day of the auction.
The MRC disposes of unclaimed merchandise and items not meeting retention guidelines in the following manner:

No surprise, look who was elected and the HUGE number of unqualified people holding important positions! LOL

I have the same issues with USPS. Just a couple of months ago I mailed 4 PCGS slabs, a raw coin and a $20 bill in a package. The tracking into showed only is was "accepted" at my PO for a MONTH. I got the PO involved in looking because there were ZERO updates to my tracking for weeks. About 7 weeks later, the package showed up to my friend when the estimated delivery was like 4 days!!!!!

I've had problems for decades with USPS. They have cost me well over $1000 in lost coins. Their tracking and insurance are GARBAGE. I've never once collected on the insurance due to various fake USPS "issues" - worthless.

USPS pension support plan!!!! Steal your coins then auction them with a third party for a cut of the action. They have "lost" many of my packages that there was no possible way they'd be lost even if the labels got removed. I always put my stuff inside a ziplock with a SECOND LABEL inside and all my info/directions if the package is damaged. Doesn't matter, if the main label is damaged or gone, they will STEAL your package and auction it.

Exactly -- And the "plandemic" only served to make the situation worse [IMO].

I did a search for the Mail Recovery Center where it was sent [ostensibly] and called because I planned on stopping by, but the phone just rang about a dozen times [midday].

I've had plenty of mail say "delivered" when it was not but ended up arriving a day or two later. I figured it was just the hazards of living in Hawaii. I did however have a nice cent cud lost in the mail recently. I thought about putting an "air tag" on future packages to track it with my phone. Has anyone tried that? at least with high value packages it may be worthwhile.

This has happened to me twice in the past two months. One said delivered but didn't arrive for a week after.

Exercise in futility IMO. A few years ago I fought USPS on about an $800 package of coins tracked 5 times, the last in Atlanta. POOF, GONE. I worked on it for (no kidding) - a year with emails and phone calls - worthless.

                            Porch Pirate abduction?
I have had mail returned by the USPS that was found strewn on the road after someone lifted it from my streetside box.
And all they returned were the bills. LOL

I've had good and bad results when it comes to the USPS. The highlight was one lost roll of Lincoln cents (with a CC dime on the end) that was found and returned. The postal worker inquired what type of coins were usually in the rolls I bought because the roll broke apart when it came out of the package. I gave her a list of some of the possibilities that might be found in the rolls. I got a very good roll that time.

Most recently a small package that was listed as "Delivered" was found in an adjoining mailbox when I went in person to inquire about it. I had to suggest the possibility of it being in the wrong PO box. When the worker looked in neighboring boxes, there it was! (I probably only thought of this possibility because someone else's mail was in my box the previous week.)

ps. Regarding replies by others, I try to avoid this here but to keep the blame game accurate I must.

The current USPS director was appointed during the previous administration.
And that director worked feverishly and tirelessly to slow down mail delivery by removing street corner mailboxes and other "cost-cutting" (wink, wink) innovations ahead of the last presidential election. We don't want to make it easy to mail letters or speed up delivery, do we? (He's such a trooper.)
And privatizing the USPS won't improve things.

I'll get down off my soap box now.

Just a couple of weeks ago I was working from home. At about 2PM I got notification my package was delivered. First I thought, WTH, mail never comes here until 5PM or so. Ran out to my box and it was empty. Went on to USPS.com to check and it clearly showed "delivered". Contacted the ebay seller and he was like WTF, probably thought I was trying to scam him. Literally 3 DAYS LATER, the package showed up. USPS sucks
