    ANACS submission

I had sent in 25 coins to the above tpg and was wondering if any one else has had this happen to them. What happened was, I had a Franklin Half dollar that was what I thought was a DDO but was unable to match it up. I sent it in to ANACS and listed it as an unknown variety and checked off variety knowing I would be charged for them to verify it as a DDO. Unfortunately it came back slabbed and was noted that it was not a DDO. In hindsight, I should have called them before sending in that coin. It turned out that when I sent it in to Dr Wilds he confirmed my suspicions that it was one. He gave it a new listing of 1963-029 to winch I was happy about. Although it is not what I call anywhere near a monster “ Far far from it “. I was still glad to see that I was able to diagnose it as a DDO.

Has anyone else made that blunder before. Just wondering if I’m the only one hmmm, what’s the word? To have done that.

I learned my lesson to not submit a coin as unknown again. I will send it to CC,VV, CONECA or Wexler for verification first if I am unable to find a match.

Have not had that experience -- Did you send in that paperwork with your submission?

I do like the Franklin Halves.

I sent it in to Dr Wiles after getting the coin back from anacs. At the time of my submission, i should have sent it to Him first then made the submission with the attribution. It was all my fault as I did not understand what anacs role was in the variety part of there process.

I'm glad I saw this thread.
My last submission to ANACS (Jan 2024) didn't go well, although they have offered to correct the attributors errors. The submission was made at our local show, the ANACS rep even filled out the form and added the request to return the ID labels.

I submitted about 30 coins with my detailed inserts, that usually include markers, to make it a little easier for the attributor. I asked for the labels to be returned. In case some were incorrectly labeled by the attributor or even myself, I could verify my work or theirs.

8 came back missing any variety designation. AND my labels didn't make the return trip either. (I have my suspicions this part was done on purpose.) I had to attribute them again and three were '09 DDR's. '09 DDR's can be a pain. Sometimes it takes finding less than obvious markers on different die states. ARRRRRG.

ANACS has said they will re-evaluate and add the variety designation on the slab for the missing varieties, with a future order.

Out of the 30 submitted, 8 were unattributed! Very frustrating.

Hope they get a handle on things as I have had many good experiences with my previous submissions.

Since you asked them to do the attribution, and they sent it back as not a DDO you now have proof from Dr. Wiles that it is a DDO. You can send the coin back in its' slab along with a copy of the letter from Wiles back to ANACS and ask them to correct their mistake!!!

Thanks Jim, that was my intention.
I'm going to call there office before sending just to be sure.
I wouldn't think that they would charge me for the re encapsulation since it was a DDO and I asked them for the attribution. I didn't know it was a new discovery piece.
We will see. I'm hoping it all turns out okay.
