1922 weak D with die gouge? through mintmark

Recently upgraded my die #1 and was going to sell this one off on eBay when I noticed under my new loupe that it has what appears to be a die gouge through the mintmark. I have not been able to find anything similar to it anywhere. Is there anything to this?
    Thanks for your help.

Welcome to LCR! Nice pictures and coin.
Do you think it possible the area on the top of the D took a hit and pushed the metal aside giving it a 'die gouge type' raised spot? Just a thought until we hear from our real experts.

      Thank you.
Maybe, since these were caused by grease in the die, some of the grease was scraped out of the die at some point.
But I would think that the grease would immediately fill back in evenly?
      I am just not sure.

Looks like a weak D that got dented after it left the mint.

I am not even sure that this is a weak D mint mark. The damage to the mint mark may have been the cause for it to appear to be weak.

If it had to take a hit too bad it was on the MM. 1922D is a nice coin. In addition to the OBV , that year and mm displays several diecrack reverses. If I get the equipment ot again will send a few pics of of those up to the Forum.
