Ontario, Ca is my old stompin ground. I used to do shows there myself every week back in the 80's and early 90's. It was always packed. Lots of dealers and customers and a lot of fun. haven't been there since we moved to Tenn in 96' but if it's anything like before you won't be dissapointed.

Coin shows are wonderful. I could attend one every week. My only complaint
is the dealers don't have enough lighting and i can't see through my loop into
the darkness anymore. I wish I was young again so i could see in the dark. One time I went to a show and there was a stereomicroscope sat up, but some anvil wreckers
fixed that and no more scopes are there now. I can see "white" coins in the dark, but not pennies. Maybe one of those little flashlights in my mouth?

Maybe a miner's hat would work. I'm in the same boat. Can't see anything anymore. I don't ever go to the coin shop close by because he has either mood lighting or something, but it's just dark and I can't see the coins. plus, he doesn't seem to care about helping.

I have one of those hand held white battery operated magnifyers used to read
books and small print, but they are not enough power, something like 3X or 5X.
We variety/error people are in the minority possibly. I have thought about taking
a penny over to the door to use outside light, but that's out--dealer might think the same, lol: out the door with his coin. I wish there was variety dealer at a show
with halogen lamps all over his table. Just babbling..Thanks for listening.

I just went to a coin show about two weeks ago and I had the same problem. The lighting was probably ample for a youngster but I could not see anything after about 5 coins. The eyes are getting old and oh complain, complain, complain, athritis and well anyway back to the coin show in Ontario. I was stationed at Concord when I was in the Navy and if I remember correctly Ontario is between there and Vallejo. If I am right that means it is the whole San Francisco scene and you could probably find some really nice coins. Thats my take anyway.

My memory is definitely slipping...I also lived in Orange when I was very young. Perhaps I remember it from there, still a very populous area with a lot of cash. Should be a good show...go and seek out the cherries.

I have a small LED battery operated book light that I bring with me sometimes. Its not ideal but it is much better than the light offered by the dealers.
