I was at my local gas station today buying smokes and looked down at the "need-a-penny-take-a-penny" tray and spotted a nice '71S.... so I took it! haha
Ok its nothing special but I got nothing better to post tonight.
I was subbing for a class and two of the children were sliding a Lincoln cent back and forth across their desks for a few moments until I stopped it. The coin was similar to yours, a nice BU red coin, except it was a 1972S. I gave it back later and asked him later where he got it (he had no idea) and if then asked if he could guess based on evidence from the coin what city it was minted in...he was not able to guess even though I gave him several clues...
You know I thought this post was going to be about a list of pennies in a jar. If someone needed one from the list they would take it and leave one, and write it down on the list. It would be shipped the easiest, cheapest way and the buyer would pay the postage. The first filling of the jar would be done by the members donating as many as they want. Therefore the jar never gets emptied. An Administrator can run the needing and taking and shipping and receiving part to keep it fair and equitable. Pennies taken would have to be replaced with typically the same grade i.e. BU for a BU, MS65for a MS65, etc. How's that sound?
