    Once again, Chinese counterfeit coins

If you have been hiding under a large rock for the last decade, you might not be aware of the very large problem that has plagued this great hobby of ours.

Chinese counterfeit coins are everywhere and there seems to be no stopping these reproductions from entering into this country. And yet, that is not all of the problem; these coins are getting better, much better. Check this web site out (this is from a Coin World article).

and it is not the only company in China that is doing this.

Once again, I plead with you to become better educated on this subject and use extreme caution when buying any and I do mean any high end coin.

I happened to be in a local coin shop about a year ago and someone brought in about 1/2 doz. Trade Dollars in near mint condition. Since the owner had heared of some fakes being purchased by another dealer. He was wary enough to check the weight (bingo) some were several grams off some were real close. Needless to say the person took his wares and rapily left to try to sucker someone else.

I think we need to start writing to members of congress. I'm not sure what angle exactly to use, but someone has to put a stop to this.

It seems that Congress may have "bigger fish to fry". And need I say that China is a favorite nation in our society.

Not to anger any folks, but lets us face facts; go to any coin show and see who the majority of the attendees and dealers are. Simple stated, numismatics is a Caucasian hobby and right there it takes any clot that we have away. If it were a minority hobby or even an illegal alien hobby, then and only then would our congress take note to this predicament. However, since it is not, we who are in relish this great hobby are left alone to do battle with this threat.
