i find more in the plastic it seems - this year, most my rolls have been plastic and we found such notables as a 1972-P ddo-001, 1980-p ddo-001, 1984-P ddo-001, etc.
but - last year we found a whole lot in the paper - who knows!

I always prefer paper rolls to the plastic ones. My reasoning is that paper rolls are rolled "in home" and have a better chance of someone unknowingly inserting valuable coins that they found in a old cigar box or someones collection. I have picked up a few paper rolls from banks that I am sure were once part of someones collection before. Although it is rare to get lucky like that and normally I dont see much difference between paper and plastic rolls.Comment

I have gotten good stuff from both. I assume we are talking about paper and plastic bank rolls. The home made stuff is iffy. I often feel like I'm looking at the rolls I turned back in to the bank. For this reason I deposit mostly in one bank and buy in another (that is BA/Wachovia/ City etc.). Still have'nt found the motherload. If you think about it, your'e more likely to hit the lotto than find a '43 copper. Am I wrong?Comment

I have found good things iin both and both have been duds. When I think paper versus plastic, I think of Strings & Sons for paper and Brinks for plastic. Both can be really good. It just depends.
I just spoke with a manager at the Publix grocery store where my wife works and they own they're own coin return machine. they deposit the bags on Friday. I now have permission to purchase any of the bags i want before deposit. I am also able to purchase the "larger" coins that don't fit into the machine so they keep them in the office unitl they deposit them on Fridays. Her exact words were "larger dollar coins from the 1920's." So now, my wife has the job of checking the office everyday on her way out for any coinage that couldn't fit into the machine.
This could be nice. we'll see.

Paper. Plastic. Loose. They were all stacked in something before they got to us.
I see no difference. Try a "geographical paper-plastic-loose" search (try a different
area). I am at a point in my bored zone whereas a penny is a penny is a penny is a
penny. BUT!!! We can't forget Roger's neighborhood, He upsets the balance in a very nice good natured way. There was a time when i thought I was in the bread basket. The geographical area shifts and someday he will say no matter how a penny is dressed when it comes to you, it will become a penny.

If the initial question proposed is asking if one type of wrapper yields more "finds" as opposed to the other, I'm with Bill and find it a flawed question and see no difference as they come from the same place - an unknown location - all you can do is search and hope you get to the coins before Roger does, LOL. If the question is does plastic physically contain more coins (e.g., 52 cents) as the plastic expands and sometimes allows an extra cent or two, then I have no idea but it could be possible depending on the counting machine.
