I feel sorry for him. He is probably sincere, probably not retarded, but sadly misinformed. Someone should recommend he get a blue book and a red book. I hope his grandfather didn't pay those kind of prices.

I don't know. My dad has those little brown envelopes that say Littleton on them too, they are foreign coins. he probably bought them in the 1980's. My dad was notorious for buying worthless coins at high prices no matter how much I tried to change his thinking and approach to the hobby.
Maybe those numbers are serial or ID numbers or something and he thought they were prices. The numbers had to come from somewhere. My guess is on the envelope. Besides, his pricing includes cents too ie; $141.15. There are no price guides that show prices like that.

Now now, he is "18" and it sounds like he's got a lot on his plate.
I too feel a little sorry for him, he probably feel because his grandfather had the coins that the coins are very valuable. Understandable.
One of the best yet. I used an old Littleton Catalog to see if those were the listing numbers, and they are. I tried using those numbers to 'price out', my personal collection, but when I got to almost 2,000,000 after the first 6 pages (out of 289), my calculator started hyperventilating
Another Craigslist classic!
