I have a question that I would like allot of feed back. I have over 40 US Proof Sets, allot of them are repeats. Values haven't gone up much from 1971 and my questions is Are they worth keeping ? Of course they are nice to have and I do like my Proof coins. I just have so many and I am trying to decide to keep them or sell them. What would you do sell or keep?

The main reason I keep multiples of proof sets is in case I need it for an extra set I may want to build. An example would be, I am building sets of circulated wheats, bu wheat cents, and memorials for my grandchildren. If I really need the proofs for a set I can break into one of the extras without having to go and find another to buy on the internet. We all know the prices increase as time goes by.

If you decide to sell them look at them close. You don't want to get rid of any special coins. I myself would keep a few since like Jean I am putting sets together for my grandchildren (Now at five and expected to increase).

I think sold in parts (i.e., broken into individual coins) would yield more $$ than sets as many type collectors buy what they need for their albums.
I agree with Jim, looking for varieties is a good idea. Good luck!
