    What Magnification Microscope to Buy?

I'm looking on eBay right now for a good coin scope. Any recommendations on what magnification to buy? Thanks.

Make sure it is wide field and can view objects (not just slides). Beyond that something with a few magnification options like 10x, 20x, 40x would be fine. My scope goes up to 60x and I would like it to go to 100x but I am trying to study fine details...

I like my QX5 digital USB scope for ease of use. Magnification options are 10x 60x and 200x. Real easy to use, shows the coin on the PC screen. Good starter system,
      about $79.00 new.

Only one problem. The camera resolution is only 1.2 megapixles, so the pictures aren't as sharp as I would like. See my post from today re: 1995 DDO-001 for sample picture..

This is what I ended up buying last night. I hope it works.

Same here. So now, in addition to numismatists, you are kindly requested to don your salesman's hat.

I hope you're not disapointed. 640 by 480 is only about .3 megapixles. I don't expect you to be happy with the resolution when looking for fine detail in searching for varieties.

I hope I'm wrong and it works great. I eagerly await your pictures.

              Good luck.
