Considering that a great number of '72's from all mints were affected with this master die doubling, I'd say it's a great possibility. I've seen estimates that between 40-60% of all 72 Cents from all mints exhibit this master doubling, and from the rolls I've searched I tend to agree with the upper end of that figure. Bottom line is this though; If you can find a 72 without the master doubling, you've probably got a rarer coin.

You're bidding on a 1972 LINCOLN CENT DDO IN THE CONECA FILE AS DMR-001 MDO-001, ANACS MS-65 RED. ANACS NO LONGER PUTS THE ATTRIBUTION (EXCEPT FOR THE NUMBER 1 DDO THAT COSTS $600.-) FALSE ON THE HOLDER BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY VARITIES TO LIST. FALSE INSTEAD, THEY SEND THE COIN BACK GRADED AND WITH PAPERWORK STATING THAT IT IS A 'MASTER DIE DOUBLING' FALSE . YOU'LL RECEIVE THAT PORTION OF THE PAPER with the certification # WITH THE COIN. The first 4 pics are of the coin you'll receive, the 5th is of the paperwork and the 6th is of one when they were still attributing on the holders that I sold last year for $31.50 and it was a 63!

I was thinking about listing this auction myself a few days ago. He also sells raw versions that he promises will get slabbed by ANACS if you send it to the. HERE. The inaccuracies Brad notes aside, why does ANACS slab these? I know they get the fees, but give me a break - they all need a good to be slapped.

I've had a tough time with ANACS submissions lately, lots of cents holdered "recolored" which came out of OBWs. I know that their staff changed a couple of years ago, but I often don't even get the requested die nomenclature listed on the holder. Sorry to change thread direction, but has anyone else seen stuff recently that just looks sloppy or lazy? I hate to lose respect for a company who helped establish the standard.

              Jason,

I was thinking the same thing. I have no idea why ANACS would attribute a '72 MDO.

ANACS did not attibute the MDO. If you look at the slab it only says 1972.

I know this one didn't, but I'm talking about the fact that I think ANACS will attribute them.

I understand. I would not fault ANACS for attributing something that a paying customer wants attributed. We should not complain that PCGS and NGC don't certify enough varieties and then complain that ANACS certifies too many. It is up to buyers and sellers to educate themselves on their purchase and sales. This is a uninformed seller.

You're right Brad - I did not look at the pictures, this example (and the other two he recently pawned off to foolish buyers) did not have MDO-001, just that previous example MS63 example.

Is the seller just uniformed or just being manipulative? He sold that MS63 last year...
                      MS64: $25
                      MS65: $10.51
