    Buyer Beware | 1913-s toned??????

I hope some people are going to realize that PCGS uses numbers in there bar codes as to why a coin is deemed to be genuine and not gradeable.

Code 92 = Cleaning, Harsh cleaning or polishing.

What caught my eye on this listing was the asking price for this 1913-S or Make Offer.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1913-S-Lincoln-Wheat-Cent-Penny-PCGS-Genuine-Toned-/190530443073?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI %26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clki d%3D3246438028623269061#ht_2108wt_952

Even at MS-63 it only books at one third of the asking price.
(Dish washing soap and water will change the color on some of the older coins to make them look toned.)

Oh yea... Looks like a liquid dish soap tone... The only way to remove the tone is with copper cream or polish... But then the coins value is highly decreased... To bad cause it is a nice looking coin... Thanks for the heads up on the code number... I didn't know they coded them like that!!!

I avoid genuine holders. I don't even look at the coins.

I guess the seller figures since it's slabbed it's worth that much... Even harshly cleaned!!!

I have and I hear it all the time about pcgs and Ngc assigning cleaned or questable color to toned coins. Sometimes I have to wonder where there thinking is. I had recently bought a 1914 s ms 63 brown graded by anacs . I sent it to Ngc for crossover and it came back questionable color. So whos right ? IMHO it's all original and toned naturally. So I know it's just there opinion. But it really upsets me when your out 70 bucks. Imho If I were a big time dealer it would have got a grade and crossover.
