Recently ECIE had a dual date Lincoln cent in their post and then there was the case of the 1972 Washington quarter struck on a silver planchet with an underlying strike visible. I am not to sure if they ever validated the quarter or not, but it was an interesting subject.

I would suspect that someone threw the dime into the cent planchet bin. It was later struck with a set of Lincoln cent dies and put into circulation.

Theoretically, this would not be an error since it may have been a deliberate act, however, since it may have happened accidentally why not sell it as such!!!

I think it is a good price for something so unique.

I agree with the two scenarios put FORTH on this thread and the listing and would say it is an "Assisted Error".

No determination of how it really happened can be proven. It is an interesting piece and not the only denomination known as BJ stated. There are also numerous dual dated pennies known and for sale.

This dual denomination and mint mark is remarkable and is unique as BJ stated.
