Interesting Coin | 1915 Matte Proof I Cherrypicked

This coin brings back memories. It is the first Matte Proof Lincoln I owned. I cherrypicked it from a deal table in 2009. I certified it and sold it on eBay that same year.
This is definitely the same coin. This sparked my interest in Matte Proofs and just a couple of weeks ago I bought my 8th Matte Proof for my set. Just wanted to share.

Wow. It sounds like a sad ending perhaps, judging by the listing. The buyer of your coin seems to have met with some issues. As Charles Barkley recently said, "Father Time is undefeated." He is a brilliant man. That may surprise you, but I have met him and have had a couple of lengthy conversations with him. (Yes, over lots of eggnog) He is. But I digress. I see that bold square rim! Very cool. You have been a great advocate of raising awareness of the matte proofs. Thanks for teaching us. These are on my wish list now, thanks to you. I wish you luck on that missing one from your collection.

For that price, It would be a good candidate for a year on the back porch to get a new patina over that cleaning. I remember picking up 1909 in a genuine holder and ending up with a 62 R&B when done with a year on the porch. But regardless, MPL's are a very interesting coin to look at and it seems once you own one, you have to buy another. Very addicting stuff!

It's Brad's fault that I am addicted to MPL'S. I have been watching that coin since the day it went up. They really are addicting. I think cherrypicking an MPL is my ultimate goal in this hobby, and once I've done it, I'm going to keep trying to do it forever... Thanks Brad.

Totally agree. If I ever start selling off my coins, the MPL's will be the last to go.

Considering all the things that people can get addicted to, collecting MPL's isn't that bad. My ultimate goal is cherrypicking a 1909 VDB MPL. That's the only one I'm missing.

That, would absolutely be the pick of a lifetime... I routinely search eBay listings for the same reason.
