At least you aren't this guy. Should pcgs have an intervention? https://www.ebay.com/usr/coinart5455

I'm wondering, did he photoshop out all of the descriptors on the genuine grades or do they come that way? I checked some of the numbers and they are labeled cleaned, etc.

Wow - a lot of grading fee money spent on mediocrity... Makes you wonder why.

I saw this, right after the thread was posted but did not want to poke the bear or go through 600 listings to figure it out...

He did not photoshop them, that is how they came based on his submission.

On the form you have 3 choices, you can ask for gennies to have details or no details or to not be slabbed at all and it's a choice for your entire submission not a choice per each coin.

If you want to know why each coin gennied, look at the 2 digits after the period. There is no way to look up the detail grade if the person asked for no details on the submission but you can look up the reason code that made it gennie.

              82 is filed rims
91 is questionable color like the cooked ones (Notice they don't need to prove it, they just say questionable)
              92 means cleaned
93 is planchet flaw (so most missing lams will not grade and ones still peeling will bag see 83 below)
94 altered surface (like stripped or whizzed) (most TPGs will call it tooled)
              95 scratch
              97 env damage
              98 damage

Ones they still body bag with no holder:

              83 peeling lam
              86 not sure it's real
              90 fake
96 they don't grade whatever it is
              99 pvc

Thanks, Ed. Yeah, I meant slabbed. Didn't notice my phone "corrected" it to the wrong thing as usual.

Jon, this seller has a LOT of worthless coins in pcgs holders. I cringe to think about how much money he lost on the fees.

I was too deep last night to check out his listings but dug in this morning. Very interesting. I noticed a few things after looking at several listings, all of the circulated, raw coins, had a very similar look to them but could not quite put my finger on it. They looked as if they had been cleaned but not in a typical way and the pics are almost perfectly taken, with the right amount of pixels, to not allow you to get the true look of the coin, I could be wrong but don't think this was by mistake (refer to the last pic in all of the listings). After running across several listings of reclaimed items from a creek bed, I ran across this listing that they have for sale (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1872-B-F-GU...Y/402067667597) , just a hunch. As for all of the PCGS coins, I'm not sure. I thought maybe an owner of a pawn shop but you would think there would be other types slabs, NGC, ANACS, ICG and so on. They do not have any feedback though.

One of my brothers used to dredge the creek bed by an old amusement park for coins. He found some good stuff.

I was actually referring to the sifter, possibly being used for something other than sifting.

Looks like the coins were cleaned in that sifter using a corn cob media with mineral oil???
