I have a steel 1943 S very faint 4 and a 1943 no 4 can not find any record of this error for this year. Anyone know something?

Believe it or not, this is fairly common. The four digit on the working die had been filled with mint gunk (grease, dirt, bits of metal, etc,) which prevented the 4 from being imprinted on the planchet when it was struck.

Technically, it is a mint error, as the four is not supposed to get filled, but since it was a common occurrence, there is not really much of a premium attached.

Welcome to the forum! As Wendell stated, it is an error, just a common one that does not carry a premium.
