    1945-S uncirculated Lincoln cents

First started collecting back in the early '60s but got discouraged when
the bottom fell out of the market in the late '80s.
Just noticed that there is much more interest, these days, in what we
called "irregularities", back in the day ... I guess you folks now call
them "die varieties" ? If I'm wrong, please correct me.
There's something that I bought back in the '60s that I think would
qualify for a die variety. It looks much like what I saw, on this website,
that was a 1922 D die pair #3, weak reverse. I refer, specifically, to the
'flattened' or shallow depth of approximately 1/3 of the "O" in ONE CENT
    on the reverse.
The issue is that the coins that I own that exhibit this are all 1945-S
Uncirculated Lincoln cents. In fact, I bought a whole role (50). I bought
them at a coin store in the neighborhood. I assume they either got them
straight from the mint or picked them all out of a bag from a bank. They
all have the same weakness in the exact same place. I can't seem to find
any other flaws in the strike, even bag marks.
Of course, I haven't looked at this roll in years. They're in my safety
    deposit box at the bank.

My question is ... does this add or detract from their value?

They still have considerable mint luster. Should I take them out of the
plastic roll and package them individually?

    Regards
    SS

I don't think that a Weak O will detract from the price much, but it would certainly not add to the price. The 1922 Weak D die 3 is popular, and the Weak O is a way to identify it. It is not valuable because of the Weak O. Anyhow, welcome to the forum. You should check those 1945 S cents for rpms. RPM 5 and 6 are very nice.

      Welcome Richard

Probably a bit of die deterioration. I wouldn't think it would detract too much from the value being on the reverse of this date. It would be entirely up to you how they are packaged but there are some nice RPM's for the date and you may want to check for them as well as a few DDO's.
      Just my opinion.

Jargon, acronyms, and other lingo ...

                        Hey Guys!
Thanks for all the nice responses. I'll assume that DDO means
Double Die Obverse, but RPM ...? Is there a "lingo" link on this
site as there is over at the PCGS site? I couldn't find RPM over
                        there.
Now I'm all excited about looking for things I've overlooked on
hundreds of Lincoln cents that are either in my books but also
the duplicates I've collected over the years. Although my
interest has waned a bit, over the years, I've always tossed
any 'wheaties' I've received in change into my extra stash.
It still keeps happening. Just a couple weeks ago, I found a
1958 Lincoln cent (extra fine condition) in pocket change.

About 15 years ago, I found (I still have it) a circulated 1973
proof quarter! Some kid got into his buddy's coin collection ... 8-(

How about "Variety Vista"? Should I go there to learn about
                        all the popular varieties?

                        Regards,
                        SS
