I'm planning to screen lots of coins for subtle defects in one sitting (2-3 hours), and I'm looking for the best magnifier that will limit eye/back/arm strain.
I use a 10x little hand held that I bought at a coin show. For me only - I say that if you can't see the error with a 10x then it's not worth it for me. Some folks use the microscope and really love it - especially for taking pictures. Do a search on lcr - there are a few older posts about scopes.
Thx
Roger
A lot of people swear by their 10x glass and whatever ends up working for you is of course best. Personally, I swear by my chrome 16x doublet loupe. It costs $12 at any coin shop (probably less on eBay), is made or real metal and glass and at that price, I can afford to misplace several a year!

If you have a gun show through your convention center in town in the next few months. Attend!! you can buy a nice 10X - 20X combination loop for $5. Look for the guy selling gun cleaning kits.
