I am new to the forum but not the site. I have been collecting Lincoln cents for 35 of my 40 years. I Started with my father. I used to be a purist and collect only the PDS of each date for my collection with little regard to the errors. Over the last few months I have become increasingly more interested in varieties and errors. I have found that my favorite coin offers more than most in this new area. I feel like a kid all over again. I look forward to sharing some of my finds in the coming few days.
Greetings from Indiana

Welcome to the forum!
What type of camera(s) do you have? And what type of magnification are you using?
This thread had some good beginner tips. Trial and error is the best bet. I would avoid LED USB lighted microscopes unless it's the only option. Those LEDs are so bright.

A loupe on the end of a point and shoot works for extreme close ups. A small tripod can help with the macro work - you can crop, focus and play with the lighting without holding the camera at the same time.
