      1983 DDR-002
      1DR-002
      WDDR-002

      Class V CCW

Pivoted hub doubling seen on UNITED STA, EPU, left memorial corner, ONE CENT. Not as strong as DDR-001, but still very nice. Can be missed if you don't pay close attention. Pick up point is UNI and O from ONE. Often collectors confuse common MD as being this DDR. Look for notching on the bottom the letters in UNITED.

        Type 2 Counterclash.

The broken part of the reverse die (a CUD) apparently falls out and lands in the striking chamber. The obverse die strikes the die fragment, by my count, 3 times. When they strike, IBER from LIBERTY makes an impression on the broken die, that shifts and simultaneously countersinks IBER back on the obverse die as well as takes a second impression of IBER, offset from the first impression. The broken die somehow moves and makes one more strike, this time of a doubled IBER, above the date.

          Type 2 counterclash

Not as dramatic as die 01. Some type of foreign material entered the striking chamber. My sense is, that whatever it was, was flat and rectangular; probably scrap metal. It struck around IN GOD, shifted south and countersunk IN G back into the obverse die. It does seem to have shifted south again and struck a third time. The specimen examined did not reveal a third IN G. The gash like marks through N G appear to be die damage.

This rpm is listed in CC as 1mm-004. It has none of the markers but the overlay is a pefect match.

I noticed after Aisha posted her 1983 variety that there wasn't a 1983D-1MM-001 posted yet. So here it is.
