    Error Die Clash/Break | 1936-P Clash?

    HI
Just found when i was cataloging our december wheat cent finds.
The portrait of Lincoln can be seen on the reverse of the well traveled coin.
    What is it called?

I am not sure if it's a clash, but there is an anomaly called the "ghost lincoln" or something like that, where a vague full outline of lincoln can be seen on the back.

Yep, most likely a ghost of Lincoln, or more technically: Internal Metal Displacement Phenomenon

How do you tell the difference between this "ghost phenomenon" and a true die clash?

IMO the marks observed are not consistent with clash marks found on other examples; that is, the marks do not show what a hollowed out Lincoln portrait clashing a convex steel die face should show. Second, die clashes rarely are found on the reverse of a LWC as compared to LMC (or some other denominations) - I am not sure why this is. All that said, the current example appears more like the die steel aging having been influenced by the opposing die face's area of least resistance (Lincoln's portrait).
