    Error Other | What happened to the rims on these coins?

    I've seen a few of these over the years but have never been able to figure out what type of error it is and consequently, how they happen. Any help?

    Thanks in advance;

    Sonya

    I'm on an iPhone, so pics are small, but I lean toward both being exencased cents (damaged by a bezel), especially the first example posted. The second too seems to be exencased as opposed to a partial collar...

      Often you see these,and I'm Goin with the lucky penny removal, or as said above encased coin's. These were actually pressed into the encasement,causing the rim damage as seen! I've pulled a few,just to save the next guy! Educate&Enjoy!

            I have made plenty of mistakes with identification, glad I didn't do it again.
