Error Other | Die crack or doubled mallet handle ?

I have often wondered why we haven't found any doubled mallet handle varieties.
This might not be an actual doubled handle, but it does remind me of the doubled column varieties we find on memorial Lincolns.
Let me know if you think this is a plain old die break or maybe a new variety.
    Thanks bunches for checking,
    Jean

    I'm not seeing anything, Jean.

PS: Took another look and attached a pic with arrows. Now that I see this, could be something. Let's see what the others think.

That handle looks doubled to me, but I'm no expert on such varieties.

If it turns out that it is actually doubled, then I will have to search my little stockpile of 2009 Formative Years.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Jean...

Thanks George. My line drawing feature in my paintshop program seems to have turned itself off so I wasn't able to add lines.

This is the first of these I have noticed, and I have searched over 3,000 2009P FY coins.
Will keep my fingers crossed that it might get some notice... or someone else has found one and has determined it is just a die break.

Kind of strange to have doubling limited to only that area. I do not believe it is a doubled die, but probably a striking error or die anomaly.

To me I'm more interested in the bark between the handle and Abes leg... For lack of a better phrase "Wavy Bark"!!!

Thanks Jim... didn't even see that. But I did check this against another FY and the coins appear to be the same in that area.
Perhaps it is the grass on which the log rests which gives us that wavy feeling?
Gotta love those anomalies which raises our eyebrows and say 'hey that's different'.

Interesting Jean and a first of what ever it is that I have seen.

The lowest part is most likely the grass... The area above that looks almost like the wavy steps... Wonder if it is related to the anomoly near the handle???
