Hello everyone. This is my first post on here. I have a question which I'm sure someone out there can answer. I know the pics aren't that great, but it gives you the idea. All pics came from 6 different pennies, all 2011 P. I have found dozens of these recently, and I was wondering exactly what causes this.
Thanks!
I was going to say that they look like they could be the 2011-1DEO-001T trails listing, but I don't think that die had trails coming off of LIBERTY, as shown on your coin. Interesting. Nice find.

Check here under the date of your coin and for the Obverse side. Also this web site will give an explaination of the anomoly.
Nice dual-directional trail die! Only dual-directional trail obverse dies for 2011 are 1DEO-003T and 1DEO-006T, and yours is not either of them as your trails lean to the left more while those two dies lean toward the right. Also yours appears stronger. Appears to be a new listing.
Wendell Carper It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!
Very interesting trail die find. Congrats on your first find and welcome to the LCR forum. Don't be afraid to ask many more questions. Glad you found us.

Thank you all for your answers and your help. I am going to look through about 15 rolls I got at the same time as these coins. The two rolls I opened each had coins with different trail die patterns. In fact, there were about 25 coins, (seemed like different die stages?), in the 100 that I looked at. They were all OBW rolls. Maybe I can find a lot more. Who knows?
Also, I plan on posting some more pics on here of some Lincoln Cents that I have found recently. Nothing valuable, just a nice brockage, and a nice struck through cloth.
Again, thanks. Nice to know so many enjoy the same interests in coins!
2011P -- 9 obverse trailing varieties in 3 rolls!!
Since this was posted many weeks ago, I havent had time to look through the 15 rolls. Just 3 rolls were opened and catagorized. Since these are bank wrapped rolls, there were many, many, of the same type. For instance, I found NINE different trail-die varieties on the obverse alone, and only three of them were listed in the 'traildies.com' site. The reverse had 3 different types of error, and only 9 coins in all had NO error or variety!! (yes, out of 150 coins!) Guess I hit the trail die jackpot!! I will have more time around the holidays to go through these remaining 12 rolls, and let you know what else I find. Then, I'm not so sure what to do with them. I would probably sell them. They are all very nice BU, but some have some spots.
Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks all!!
