Lincoln penny 1983 - Small Y - MD or DD ?
Hi,
There is a small Y in Liberty on this coin.I'm not sure if it is a DD or MD on back... Look DD but i'm not an expert. There are lot of polish on two sides.
While trying to remove die clash lines in the field, the devices suffer. They are larger at the base of the device and narrower deep into the die. The Y is smaller because the field is reduced. I've seen this before on the 1 in the date as well.
Richard S. Cooper Some have asked about my images I use, and I'm glad to say I've completed a DVD of these. Ask if you are interested. Newer members like these.
Yes, i understand what you say; it look like MD. I'm surprise to see straight lines on each letters (where oxydation stop). MD are not exactly like that... but as i said i'm not an expert. Lincoln look smaller than normal too (maybe weak strike). For me, it is an interesting coin :-)
