Error Struck Through | Fun struck-thru grease find

Here's a fun one i've had for a little while but never got around to posting. A close inspection leads me to believe that it the date is 1946. Enjoy

That is a neat find, Simon. I think I see the 4.

1946 was a year plagued by very late die state coins that often showed extreme wear in the last two digits of the date. You coin, however, shows very little die wear in the first two digits, which leads me to believe it was an obstructed die strike (probably grease) rather than the typical "vanishing 46" die wear.

Thanks, the other 1946 cents I have do show the wear you're referring to. Good to know the difference.

I think its a 1909-S and a glob of grease fell on the 09-S part.
Ebay it like that one seller who was selling some wheat as a BIG, ONLY ONE OF A KIND ERROR...MISSING THE MINT MARK!!!!?????
The technical terminology for that error is called "philadelphia"

All kidding aside, really cool find Simon. Greasers are a lot of fun. Congrats.
