1968 d unknown clash?

    Error Die Clash/Break | 1968 d unknown clash?

    Hello all i have been searching yet another roll of coins today and have come upon this 1968 d with something wierd going on in the columns of the memorial and i look closer and to me it looked like the bowtie of lincoln but then there are also these two other raised lines to the left and i am just not sure.. thoughts?

    What I do when I find these is turn it upside down, that way the outline of Lincoln's image comes through more clearer.

      Looks like a clash to me. This was common in that area of the reverse for the Memorial Cents.

        Yeah i flip it with my eye on where the clash is and it seems to be the collar thats showing. The other two lines i am not sure. (I know what the two lines are now to the left. They seem to be the lapel in his suit!

          cool i wonder why this one isnt exactly listed in the mad clash site.

            Because about 20% of all '68-D cents have this heavy clash, it isn't unique to a specific die but rather occurred on dozens of die pairs.

              I see well still glad to see i got a clash die. i havent seen this on any other 68 d before so its a keeper for me.

                I believe it is a clash of his beard. As stated, very common for this date. 1968-D was the first clash I ever found.

                  Here is an overlay pic that may help you see the locations of a clash. This isn't the quality of some of the other members pics but it may help. I think I have the orientation right. lol
