The amount of "offcenteredness" is usually measured in precentage. Yours would be 1/4 (approximately) of the design is visible and the 3/4 of the blank unstruck is referred to as 75% off center struck. The position of the design on the blank determines the percentage. Nice coin and a keeper.
Easy enough formula. I don't know why I didn't know this. I'll have to look at my other two and see where they fall. One of them is probably something like 98-99% off-center as just the edge of the die struck the coin...
And I kind of think it is probably closer to 60% than 75%
The seller listed it as a 'double dye' and wanted $8 for it
They sell for around $3-$10 sometimes...Depends...I have one thats RDV-004 so that would put it at around 74-84, but i see zinc so it would be 83, 84, or 85.. Its about 40% off .You send it to you for $5 if you want it

Just estimate where you think the middle is.
I did not base my response on this coin depicted as being 75% Off Center (Approximately).. I responded to how it happens and used a scenario of the easiest percentages to how how they factor the struck and unstruck areas to get the percentage end result.
I see. I trust your judgmentand and understand this is sceintific.
...If I could just remember my geometry lessons I might be able to get it exact...LOL
[quote=1sgret;17367] I failed algebra twice and the only thing I did pass was Geometry (That's because it had circles and straight lines).
...I too failed algebra - once, then received a D the following semester. It was the only time I ever received an F. My parents were so perplexed as math was my father's strongest subject they just assumed I would do better. And Geometry was easier for me as well, probably because I am an artist...
I've never found an off-center and finally decided to buy one. So this is what I just bought off ebay. I probably paid too much (4.99) but I really like how Lincolns face is just peaking out. Just thought I would share.
You proably paid the going price as it depends on the how much design shows etc. Your chances of finding an off-center in circulated rolls is not too great as the type you have shown as they will not fit.
Most are picked out by the rolling companies employees or the counting machines catch them and damage the coin. You can still find titled partial collars (Railroad Tracks on the rims) in circulation. Some minimal off-centered coins can be found in bags from the banks and also rim clips and small cuds. Now you need one with a date on it.
That's why I was hesitant to buy this one. I've learned from this board that when it comes to off-centers, the further off-center the better, with the date and MM is best.
The $4.99 was his opening price with free shipping so that's not too bad and I didn't have one to hold and admire but now I do.
