Error Other | 1953 d pmd?

This cent has been floating around my desk for over a year, possibly two. I often set aside weird stuff and then move it, and move it again, and clean up and lose it etc. I decided to catalog some of them this morning and scan them since its faster than taking pictures.

I have always thought this was some sort of PMD but to be sure I would like some opinions since its not an area I concentrate on. It has always appeared to me this coin was intentionally cut with small pliers, because the gouges are not regularly spaced around the coins.

Id be interested to know your opinions.

I think your observations are perfectly sound. It does appear to be Post strike damage most likely done with small cutters/pliers.
