    Error Die Clash/Break | 1998 possible clash / strike through on reverse

    I noted these two marking ('clash or/and strike through') on the reverse of this 1998 P in the columns. They are marked by a yellow box. You are your opinions.

    Those are definitely clash marks Joe. It is one of the primary places for clash remnants on Memorial Cents.

          My overlay does not align exactly as yours, but what you're seeing is the back of collar & neck area and then the space above the beard and below the lower lip. Both areas are inlets within the design. Very common as the Mint often did not polish the memorial bays (at all or sufficiently) after a clashed dies event, just the fields around the memorial.
