    The ear has simply taken hits. If you look around you'll see numerous hits elsewhere on the head.

      i was instered in what is below the ear overpolished the two outlines you can see that standout

        There are so many raised and recessed anomalies everywhere that all I can think is what Jody stated, it took a lot of hits. There are other curved areas across the neck. I think this was just banged up. Keep up the hunt.

          I see a a portion of a clash in that area clead dow to the collar. The overlay is not the same year, but you can see the area in question could be affected:
