    Error Planchet | Defective Planchet?

Hi Everyone! Here is a 1940 P wheat I found in a batch from my local dealer. I am pretty sure it is a defective planchet. It is defiantly not damage, the design fades into it like on clips, and it is peeling in some places like a lamination. What do you think? Thanks!

It appears to be damage created outside of the mint.

I'm going to humbly disagree with BJ. I think it looks like a jagged straight clip.

With all thanks, and due respect to BJ, I think you hit the nail on the head Sean. Matches up with that very nicely. Thanks!

I also think it's a ragged clip or another defective planchet error. It may have incurred some damage, but there appears to me more going on than just damage.

No need to be defiant, Alex. We're all friends, here.

            Neat find!
