What does the edge of your coin look like? Can you take several shots of the side of the coin?

Not really sure what to make of it but it seems to have what looks like some Blakesley effect.

My gut says PMD, but I'll wait for an error expert.

I don't see anything consistent with damage, it's not filed down. I'm not the error expert here but I've had a handful of elliptical clips. I couldn't say with certainty with pictures alone.

There's enough damage on the edge that causes me to say PMD.

                Thanks everyone for the responses!

I'm still not sure what this is.

                A clip or just PMD.

Maybe Mr. Diamond might reply also.

On the obverse, the rim opposite the " elliptical clip" is lowered and broadened, thereby resembling a Blakesley effect. However, on the reverse face, this same area of the rim seems simply to be damaged. The edge of the "elliptical clip" looks to have been filed. There is no metal flow in the letters bordering the "clip". On balance, I'd have to go with post-strike damage. The coin is really too beat-up to draw a conclusive opinion.

I suggest you post pictures. "Resemble" is a non sequitur in this business.

We would have to see the coin itself...."resembles" means very little in this game. Start a new thread with pics and you'll get answers.

Darellano -- if it is PMD then no - a damaged coin has no value, if it is a clip -- it could - I have no expertise in pricing...
