Error Struck Through | Looks like struck through wire!?

These damaged coins are tough to determine what really happened! This one puzzles me very much. The path of the impression is pretty strange, and seems to be continuous. Please excuse my cheap graphics! The redline is the path on the reverse, and the green line is the path along the rim. The deepest impression is across Lincoln, which I'm not sure if that would be correct if it occurred sitting the strike. Then there appear to be some movement only on the obverse flat surfaces. Am I digging to deep on this one, or might this be a true error?!

    Thanks, Mike

Its and outrageous struck through if that's what it is. I'm leaning towards struck through.

That's really interesting. It's either a very dramatic struck thru or less likely, a defective planchet. I wouldn't be able to tell from photos, but either way- the coin was struck that way. That's a really fun error.

would this have been tangled around the planchet as it was fed, or did it fall in right after?

I can't figure it out from a photo Richard, I'd have to study it.
