Error Die Clash/Break | Possible die clash

I hope that I found my first die clash. Die clashes are probably the coolest error to me.

The upside down beard is on shown on the right with the back of the collar on the left. There is also strong abrasion under the memorial.

It's a clash but not of the beard. More like the coat (though the pics. are not clear enough for my eyes).

I know the pictures are not that good. I actually did not know what it was until I started researching it. I thought that the anomaly in the third bay was some kind of doubling, ? But it has the same shape as the memorial cent here:

The tip of the beard is in the ninth bay.

On second look, I agree with that.

I just found the clash mark on the obverse under the beard. I have some better pics that I will post later.

Looks like the Y from LIBERTY may be present in bay 2 also. Congrats on finding a clash!

Hopefully I will find more now that I know what to look for.

These are very common. You will probably find a clash like this in every other roll or so. If you are into this type of thing, you will probably only keep the strongest examples that have the TY of liberty pronounced. On the strong clashes, you will begin to see the outline of Lincoln's head. And if the obverse hasn't been polished out, the memorial design will appear, bisecting the coin and giving Lincoln the appearance of being behind bars. Those are called "prisoner cents" for obvious reasons.
Good luck and keep up the hunt!

This is true, especially with the 1983's. I have probably a roll of 1983's with the Y present. I started saving them before I knew how numerous they were. Still, a very cool find, to me.
