Error Other | 1989 cent with an incuse crack

If a raised crack is a die crack, then what is this incuse crack? It does not look like a scratch.

OK .. anything that is raised on a coin is sunk down on a die.
and anything that in sunk into a coin (if struck on the coin and not PSD) is raised on the die.
that being said something like this can not be raised on a die as it would be an added element.
That being said.this is either... Post Strike Damage... or
    a strike through.
Like a strike through of a wire or thread
I do not have a great expertise on strike throughs so I will defer which it is to someone else.
A scratch/PSD should show a build up on the side of the incused line of metal
A strike through would not show the build up of metal.

Ok, there is no build up around it that I can tell. It looks very smooth around all edges as if just indented. It is the way the crack is shaped and being incuse as opposed to raised. Strike through sounds like the better description. Thank you for the insight there.

It is definitely not a crack.
here is a simple drawing of a cross section of a die and a struck coin
a crack would be a crack on the die. This would let metal flow into the crack. so on a coin it would be raised.

To me it looks like it did raise some metal on the left side, looks like a sharp deep scratch that raised metal to the left side.

However, it might be an optical illusion but on my monitor it looks raised especially as it gets out into the field.

One thing that would make me more sure of it being a scratch is if you see any zinc showing.

There is absolutely no zinc showing through at all. What you see that looks raised is the reflection of the light I have shining on it. Here is another picture showing no zinc. My camera is not very good at getting photos of incuse markings.
