This one is missing the entire word IN... The area is slightly concave and what ever was struck thru didn't allow the slightest remnant of lettering thru... A piece of metal maybe??? I did a close up and a top/down and bottom up angle for ya'll!!!
Found in a roll last nite!!!

Very cool , it looks like the grease preserved some of the roller lines in that area .
JohnSo sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. JohnComment

I think so.Isn't it likely that there would be duplicates?
Then the blob either ended up as a struck through on a coin or they cleaned it off. It would be cool to find a roll with a few filled plus the coin with the blob on it as a struck through. The thing is that the filled coins are pretty common but I've never seen a coin with the clog stuck to it, maybe it almost never occurs.Comment

Nice to see that strike through so clearly Jim. I just opened an original roll of 1981 from the Federal Reserve that had some with a petroleum jelly like substance still on the coins. No strike throughs that I noticed, but some very vivid purple, pink and green toning. Under the goo is original "red". It is neat to see what the grease from the mint actually looks like. I'll look more closely later tonight for missing devices when time allows.I think so.

Yes to images. Give me a day or two to find the time to get my imaging "station" set up. I also came across at least one very interesting one in the '81 roll with separation and notching (I think) that I will post separately.Comment
