Error Die Crack | Cool spiked head on a 1972-D. Or is it a wedge:)?

Another interesting coin that happened under my scope. I guess this would fall under the "spiked head" error category? I see a lot of single crack examples, but very few like this, except for maybe on the 1956-D's. Just another fun find along the way.

    Thanks for looking!

Technically speaking, even though it isn't usual, some might consider it a retained cud, as it is a rim to rim crack with some displacement.

Very cool ! It's interesting how at the back of the E the flow lines travel across the field then up the side of the break to end at the top edge.I definitely like !

                Hello again,

I heard back from BJ and this is indeed a new retained CUD listing for Cuds-On-Coins. RCD-1c-1972D-01.

Thanks for your comments and help on this one everyone!! Happy searching!

Congrats... Thanks for the follow up... Hard to believe that in 45 years no other retained cuds were found for 72D... You know they were looked at heavily due to the DDs for 72!!!

WTG on the new listing John!

Maybe they should start a new classification of spike/RCD combo...like 'Retained Lobotomy'
