Error Other | Obverse greaser/odd reverse PSD

I thought this was an odd one worth posting. The obverse has a grease filled die at the rear neck but on the reverse are some odd sunken areas that look to be pushed inward(I am assuming PSD) . On the obverse you can see these areas as two bright spots that were pushed outward. Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Jon.

Someone hit the reverse with a punch.

Geez Jon, i don't know. Only thing that I can think remotely possible is a blow hole... or 3 blow holes. Or like enamel said, it's all PSD.
The obverse looks similar in shape to the blow hole example on error-ref.com but the reverse does not. Not sure if blow holes always go completely through the coin, but seems like I remember a post a few years ago and it did not go completely through.

      Here's that thread http://www.lincolncentforum.com/foru...ight=blow+hole

It looks like something I did when I was a kid with my BB gun. That 68 could actually be mine. The year is about right! PMD.

BB gun is what I was thinking. The way the depressions are rounded on the bottom.
I'm sure there are punches that are rounded on the bottom also.

My first thought was a BB gun.
But it might be slightly smaller than a standard BB, with the amount of radius showing it should be bigger.
I think the normal old BBs are 17 or 17.7 caliber. The modern soft ones might be smaller but they wouldn't do much damage since they're plastic.

A couple of things I see... The obv looks to be a struck thru foreign object as there is no visible distortion on the rev opposite the depression... The rev depressions would be from PSD since the obv shows the distortion from the hit... Cool looking coin either way!!!

Fantastic ideas guys!! I never thought of a punch or a BB gun. I love A Christmas Story! It gets put on all day at the inlaws at Christmas!! After your thoughts on it, maybe a couple of pieces from a scattered shotgun shell. That would explain the smaller size and rough texture it left behind. Thanks guys!!

Thanks Jim, I didn't think about struck through foreign object. It doesn't look like a LAM either so I have to agree with you! The obverse anomaly looks to have clean edges so something must have gotten in between the dies.

Thanks Jim!! I wasn't sure if it was a grease filled die or an object. It is pretty large and deep though and a peculiar shape.

Coin is damaged from impact to the reverse. Times have changed, as kids, we used to shoot each other with BB guns all the time. Jeans, heavy shirts, and swim goggles. No aiming above the chest. Hours of fun.
