It’s hard for me to tell from the images if the anomaly between the “R & T” in LIBERTY is a Die Gouge, a Die Dent or a Die Chip. I’m leaning toward it being a Die Gouge/Dent because of its shape and the gap I see between the loop on upper part of the “R” and the anomaly. The date has a Die Chip in the loop of the “6”.
1960 D = machine tripling is that possible?

Thanks for the input - Question do you allow or have others posted a hi def video to do a 360 of the coin - different angles and lighting to get a better all around view?
Maybe take and post a video on flicker with a link in the Thread? Everyone likes to look at a different angle and for someone that is approaching this from the outside - it seems that a still photo or scan is an outdated way to get a real idea of the coin. Thought would be to have a video where a viewer can start and stop with screen grabs might be beneficial as long as those stills are high quality and not just standard low res images strung together to appear that the picture is in focus. If that is an option Ill play around with the concept and then post a few for everyone to view. Or if you already have a solution please let me know and would be happy to try that approach and not re-create a completed project! Im sure this probably needs its own post - but since we are talking about this coin I thought i would ask and start with a concept before going to overboard and asking the entire forum. Thanks again.Comment

Thank you very much JC for your time and expertise! We really do appreciate it!
PS383, I think your idea of creating a coin video on flicker and providing a link to the video in your thread is a very interesting idea. I don't see why it would be an issue, we are able to link to other websites. I will message Peter and Maineman to get their approval on this concept. We should have an answer back soon. Thank you!Comment

ok had some difficulties on size and posting on flickr - so I posted a short video on Youtube. It is 2 minutes. I would suggest you watch it in HD 1080 in Full screen mode. This was a first pass with light and hand holding the camera - so there is improvement. But see if this video would aid in addition to the photos submitted of being able to see anything different or better. Suggestions of length of time on an area, further zooming, light, angles from a viewer would be great. Criticism is taken very easily so blast away of likes and dislikes. The goal would be to put together a tutorial to standardize how and what is needed to make a HD video that is useful as an identification tool. Once i receive the input starting with is it useful - then will proceed to making a professional video with suggestions. 1st question does it help at all in any thing missed or to confirm from the photos already posted?.

PS383 I think this is a pretty cool concept for people who have video cameras and spend time perfecting their use of it, which you do. I was able to see the die chip in the 6 and the anomaly to the right of the R, but I didn't know how to freeze the frame to still the image and I needed more time to see it. If you were able to zoom in more on those areas, it would be a plus. A straight on shot is always necessary to tell location of things, but also moving the coin in different angles to the light helps too, typically with more magnification though. The only other thing I can think of is if you could keep the lighting the same, once you determine the amount of light that shows the best clarity. I am not a good critic because I don't know anything about cameras and not much more than that about coins, but I can see where this could be an effective tool!Comment
